Plan the perfect trip to St. Martins with insider timing, local stops, and the right pace for this Bay of Fundy Itinerary
If you’re planning a trip to the Maritimes, think... St. Martins, New Brunswick, the biggest mistake isn’t missing something… It’s not giving yourself enough time to experience it properly. This is the perfect B ay of Fundy Itinerary.
Between the Fundy Trail Parkway, the sea caves, beaches, lighthouse, and local hidden spots, this is one of the most unique destinations on the Bay of Fundy.
But here’s the key: St. Martins isn’t a one-day stop.
Why You Need More Than One Day in St. Martins
Most visitors plan to:
See the sea caves
Drive the Fundy Trail
Grab a meal
Move on
And yes—you can do that. But you’ll miss what actually makes this place special.
Because everything here changes:
The tide completely transforms the coastline
The light changes the cliffs and views
The second visit to a place is always better than the first
That’s why we always say:
A 3 day St. Martins Bay of Fundy itinerary lets you see it
A 5 day St. Martins Bay of Fundy itinerary lets you experience it
With more time, you can:
Catch the sea caves at the right tide
Do the Fundy Trail without rushing
Walk St. Martins Beach more than once—and see how much it changes
Take the GPS tour and actually recognize what you’re hearing
Revisit your favourite spots (which everyone ends up doing)
And most importantly…
You stop watching the clock.

Your 3 Day St. Martins Itinerary
This is the perfect 3 day itinerary in St. Martins, NB.
Day 1 — Harbour, Beach Walk & Sea Caves
Start at the harbour—the heart of St. Martins.
Walk across the covered bridges, the only place in the world with two, yes two covered bridges. Then take in the working waterfront where the fishing boats will be bobbing on the water and 6 hours later, sitting in the mud. Then head out onto St. Martins Beach.
Walk the beach. Look for wish rocks (Learn all about Wish Rocks Here.)
Depending on the tide, you’ll either be standing on the ocean floor or watching the Bay of Fundy push right up to the cliffs.
From there, continue to the St. Martins Sea Caves.
Timing matters [Read: St. Martins Sea Caves – When to Visit]
Afterward:
Stop into Huttges General Store for a popsicle or snack
Visit the Quaco Museum, it's small, but mighty
Then head back, relax, and settle into the evening with a drink at Henry's Bar. Sit on the rocking chairs on the porch and if you're lucky, the moon might rise right out of the Bay of Fundy.

Day 2 — Fundy Trail Parkway
Today is going to be a great day.
Drive the Fundy Trail Parkway and follow the coastline west.
Take your time.
The goal isn’t to see everything—it’s to experience the right stops properly.

Day 3 — GPS Tour, Lighthouse & Clifftop Walk
Start with the Experience the Bay of Fundy GPS Tour.
In the privacy of your own car, you’ll hear:
Local history
Shipbuilding stories
Hidden details and lore
It turns the entire area into a guided experience.
The tour finishes up at the Sea Caves, there will be instructions about a great little walk over the caves, a do not miss stroll —seeing the coastline from above changes everything.
Your 5 Day St. Martins Itinerary
With more time, you stop rushing—and start discovering.
Day 1 — Arrival + Harbour + Beach
Ease into the trip with a harbour walk, visit the covered bridges, walk up the Irish River, check out some gift shops and relax on St. Martins Beach.
Day 2 — Sea Caves + Village
Properly time the tide and fully explore the caves.
Add:
Huttges General Store
Quaco Museum
Stroll the village and check out the historic Captain's Houses
Day 3 — Fundy Trail (Full Experience)
Same route—but slower.
Stay longer:
Long Beach
Big Salmon River
Walton Glen Gorge
Day 4 — Lighthouses, Beaches, Trails & Hidden Spots
This is your exploration day.
Walk new sections of coastline by the lighthouse
Head to Brown’s Beach and walk the endless sandflats
Day 5 — GPS Tour
Save this for last.
Do the GPS tour once you recognize the places—it makes the stories hit differently.
Finish at the lighthouse or your favourite spot for last minute pics.
Where to Stay in St. Martins
To make this itinerary work, location matters.
You want to be:
Close to the harbour
Minutes from the Fundy Trail
Flexible with tides and timing
